In the Spring of 2009 Van sickle students collected over 3000 gently used books for the African Library Project. After fundraising during the month of June for costs to ship the books, our donation is on its way to Malawi. Van Sickle has been named a Global Literacy Champion by the organization associated with the project. This is a great honor and a great community and service project in keeping with our International Baccalaureate Program. Thomas Rachele, English Language Arts Department Chair and 7th grade ELA teacher spearheaded the project.
