The Rebecca M. Johnson Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School (Pre-K through 5th Grade) of Excellence has been one of Springfield's high performing schools since the 2003 Academic School Year. The administration and staff believe that all children can learn and make progress toward meeting the grade level proficiency targets through the delivery of high quality instruction.

The Rebecca M. Johnson School is unique and successful because administration and teachers work collaboratively to improve students' academic performance. Each student is given an opportunity to excel through their Multiple Intelligences with a focus on dance, drama, music, and art, while maintaining high academic standards. The students have several opportunities to perform in school and for the community.
