The RMJ 21st Century Playground Project

Greetings! We are asking for your support of the RMJVPA 21st Century Playground Project, both through your participation, as well as through a financial contribution.

The 21st Century Playground Project is part of an overall school initiative in conjunction with the City of Springfield and the Hill McKnight Neighborhood Council to improve our children’s overall academic success, striving for academic excellence.  Research shows that physical exercise leads to the production of endorphins (dopamine) in the brain that are similarly produced when students are focused on an interesting activity such as an academic learning task.

Our goal is to improve the learning of the whole child utilizing the Mind, Body and Spirit. We seek to enhance the Mind by the use of our current academic initiatives, the Body through physical exercise and the Spirit through the visual and performing arts, our leadership program, and character development initiatives.

The playground is equipped with an ampi-theatre, handicapped accessible play equipment, exercise stations, a volley ball court, a walking/jogging track, raised planting beds for the science curriculum and a softball diamond for school as well as community use.

If you desire, your contributions could be earmarked toward a specific element or put toward the general effort of the project. If your contributions are earmarked to a specific part of the project, we will adorn it with a plaque of recognition bearing your name.

We look forward to your support and on behalf of the RMJVPA learning community, thank you in advance for all your help. Please print out our Playground Project plans by clicking on the link below:
