MCAS


All students are required to pass the state-mandated Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) exams in English/Language Arts and Mathematics in order to be awarded a high school diploma. The passing score on each examination, as determined by the Massachusetts Board of Education, has recently been revised to a 240 (on a 200-280 scale). Beginning with the graduating class of 2011, students shall meet or exceed the Needs Improvement threshold scaled score of 220 on one of the discipline specific high school Science (Introductory Physics, Biology or Chemistry) MCAS tests in order to satisfy the requirement to be awarded a high school diploma.
