MCAS
All students are required to pass the state-mandated Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) exams in English/Language Arts and Mathematics in order to be awarded a high school diploma. The passing score on each examination, as determined by the Massachusetts Board of Education, has recently been revised to a 240 (on a 200-280 scale). Additionally, beginning with the graduating class of 2011, students shall meet or exceed the Needs Improvement threshold scaled score of 220 on one of the discipline-specific high school Science (Introductory Physics, Biology or Chemistry) MCAS tests in order to satisfy the requirement to be awarded a high school diploma.
