MISSION STATEMENT
The Beal School is a community of learners, adults, and children alike. As teachers, we reflect on our practice and on the performance of our students in search of increasingly effective instructional strategies. We seek to nurture these same reflective qualities in our students so that they may become increasingly responsible for their own learning, while being purposeful and constructive in their actions. We strive to apply these effective teaching strategies in order to guide students to take responsibility for their education, as they become citizens of the dynamic 21st century technological society.

VISION STATEMENT
The principal and the staff will continue to apply the philosophy of Expeditionary Learning while aligning the learning experiences to the Culture of Achievement of the Springfield Public Schools that ensures the delivery of educational experiences that enable all learners to achieve success. This philosophy, along with available data will be used as the driving force to move the Alice B. Beal Elementary School forward by assisting all students to acquire 21st century skills in problem solving, reasoning, communication and technology which will assist them in working toward meeting and exceeding grade level proficiency target. In addition, our school is committed to working with families to create a safe,
caring learning environment so that all students may acquire the knowledge, skills and self-confidence that lead to success in school and effective participation as citizens in a democratic society.
