Students at Marcus M. Kiley Middle School have been warming up their vocals for an exhilarating performance. The school’s choir will sing the National Anthem in front of thousands of spectators as the Boston Celtics take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at the TD Garden Arena in Boston on Wednesday, December 5th. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Kiley Principal Christopher Sutton said the students are preparing for a chance of a lifetime and to show their Springfield pride. “They have been dedicated to pulling off a successful performance and they’ve really come together as a team to create one strong sound. We’re very proud of them.”
Kiley’s choir is comprised of 100 students and led by music teacher Rachel Ryan, who sent a recording of the choir performing the National Anthem to the Boston Celtics headquarters with the hopes of being considered to perform at one of their live NBA games.
“A few weeks later, I received a phone with the fantastic news that the choir was chosen,” said Ryan. “The students are thrilled and have been looking forward to the special day for months.”
