Springfield School Volunteers recognizes retired and science teachers

Retired teacher Greg Trimmer is the recipient of the Phyllis B. Sullivan “Unsung Hero” Award for his volunteer efforts at the Springfield Renaissance School. Trimmer was chosen from a group of 17 nominees for his dedication as a co-teacher to the two Advanced Placement English classes at the school after 35 years of teaching in another school district. As part of his involvement in the school, Trimmer takes part in the school’s meetings, extracurricular activities, and offers help to students after hours.

Science teacher Jessica Archer of Glenwood School is the recipient of the Anne M. Dill “Volunteer’s Choice” Award for her efforts in making volunteering an exceptionally rewarding experience. As a teacher, she receives the help of volunteers who aid in making her classroom a favorite among students. In addition to having volunteers in her own classroom, Archer also volunteers in supervising students while their parents attend PTO meetings. Archer is also the teacher of a Grade 5 free dance team.
