Celebrating the 2012 Olympics
To honor the 2012 London Olympics, Lincoln Elementary School incorporated the Games into its summer curriculum. Students learned about sporting events and athletes. As part of a special “Closing Ceremony,” students were treated with a visit from a real Olympian. Springfield native and Putnam alumnus Rodney Smith spoke with students about the importance of education and perseverance.
Smith competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, where he was awarded the Bronze Medal in wrestling.
