SUMMER PROGRAMS 2012 INFORMATION

SPS/BELL Elementary Intensive Summer School - Grades 2-4
Dates*: June 25th-August 3rd held Monday-Friday;
Time:
8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Locations: Boland, Gerena, Milton Bradley, Rebecca Johnson, Sumner Avenue
Registration Period: April 13th – May 4th
Application Deadline: Schools return all applications to Ms. Connie Mahoney at Central Office by May 4th

SPS/BELL *Mandatory Transition Program for Incoming 6th Graders – Current grade 5 students who meet the criteria described in letter sent to families
Dates*: June 25th through August 3rd, held Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Locations: Boland, Gerena, Milton Bradley, Rebecca Johnson, Sumner Avenue
Registration Period: February 10th – May4th
Application Deadline: Schools return all applications to Ms. Connie Mahoney at Central Office by May 4th

Regular Summer School - Grades 6-12, students who have failed one of the offered courses. (See application.) Cost: Free for In District students; $500.00 fee for out-of district students.
Dates*: June 25th through July 30th, held Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. and 10 a.m.-12 noon
Locations: Central (including all Renaissance high school students, all Alternative Schools, all Health, World History, Adv. Alg/Trig, and Chemistry courses), Commerce, SciTech (including out-of-district students, ELL, and Spanish 1 and 2 courses), Putnam (to be held at STEM Middle Academy; Putnam students will attend SciTech for P.E.; English 12 to be held at Commerce; Physics to be held at Central) and Renaissance Middle School (for all middle school students)
Registration Period: April 13th – May 14th
Application Deadline: Schools return applications/list of all registered students to Ms. Connie Mahoney at Central Office by the end of the school day on May 14th

High School Intensive Summer School - Grades 9-12, students who have not yet passed their last MCAS (8th or 10th) and have failed an English 9-12 course, Algebra 1, Geometry, or Biology.
Dates*: June 25th through July 30th, held Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. and 10 a.m.-12 noon
Location: The High School of Commerce
Registration Period: April 13th – May 14th
Application Deadline: Schools return all applications to Ms. Connie Mahoney at Central Office by May 14th
*No classes will be held on July 4, 2012.
Cell phone and uniform policies will be in effect for Summer School.
