STAIRWAY
TO SUCCESS: PREPARATION FOR LIFE
STAIRWAY
TO SUCCESS,
Springfield’s School-to Career process provides students
with the skills and training they need to succeed in school,
jobs, higher education, careers, and in the community.
STAIRWAY
TO SUCCESS
is a developmental, cumulative model incorporating the
Career Development Benchmarks developed by the Massachusetts
Department of Education. By providing early exposure
to the environment of lifelong work and learning and emphasizing
the importance of character-building traits - respect,
responsibility, relationships and citizenship,
students are provided with skills required for future
success.
|
 |
Each
developmental step in the STAIRWAY TO SUCCESS is coordinated
with the Massachusetts Frameworks and is supported through
the school system by staff at the central office and a
Curriculum Resource Library.
School-to-Career
interventions enable students to practice and internalize
the habits of mind?hands-on learning, critical thinking,
synthesis, reflection, and self-presentation - that are
tested by the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System
(MCAS) and by life.
