Letter from the Director

Welcome to the home page for the Science Department of the Springfield Public School. This site is intended to provide parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community members with information regarding the science program. Our goal in producing this website is to help insure access to the wealth of programs and opportunities available within the science department.
In the global economy of the 21st century, it is increasingly important that our children become scientifically literate. In order for them to successfully compete in this global economy, they must have a strong understanding of scientific concepts as well as the skills that are developed through a strong science and technology/engineering education. These skills include critical thinking, collecting and analyzing data and information, comprehending new ideas, problem solving, communicating, and decision making. We hope that you will find the information contained on the website to be useful, and we welcome your comments and suggestions for improvement of this site.
