AT4 Access is a website supported by the assistive technology staff of the Springfield Public Schools for staff and families. This site provides information and support for assistive technology tools and resources that are available.
Speaking4autism - This website is designed to give an overview of AT/AAC and to help interested individuals to find free and low cost tools. These tools can be used to help children who are on the autism spectrum to better communicate in all environments.
Click-N-Type virtual keyboard - A
free on-screen virtual keyboard designed for anyone with a disability
that prevents him or her from typing on a physical computer keyboard.
The program can be control a mouse, trackball, touch screen or other
pointing device. it has a scanning mode for switch users. This program
also has built in word prediction .
Read Please 2003 Free - A free text to speech screen reading program.
This allows text from any program to be pasted into read window and
read aloud. The program highlights and tracks words as it reads.
Power Talk -
A free program that enables all text in power point to be read aloud.
Photo Story 3 - A free multimedia slide show program - can be used with
Windows XP or higher. This tool is a wonderful resource for Students
to use for mutli-media authoring.
Mass Match - Through partnerships
with community-based organizations, MassMATCH is currently creating
new AT programs and working to coordinate AT services throughout the
Commonwealth. MassMATCH is one of 56 state-level AT initiatives in the
United States. Their mission is to promote the use of assistive technology
and assistive technology services to enhance the independence of people
with disabilities, enabling equal participation in all of life's activities.
Free iphone/itouch app - Model Me Going Places is a great visual teaching
tool for helping children with ASD learn to navigate challenging locations
in the community. Each location contains a photo slide show and audio
narration of children modeling appropriate behavior. 6 LOCATIONS: -
