SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION

SUMMER SCHOOL 2010

Elementary Intensive Summer School - Grades 2-4, July 1-August 5, held Monday-Friday, 8 am-12pm
Locations: Boland, Gerena, Harris, Indian Orchard, Milton Bradley, Rebecca Johnson, Sumner Avenue
Registration Period: April 26th – May 7th
Schools return all applications to Mary Ellen Baron at Central Office by May 14th

High School Intensive Summer School - Grades 9-12, students who have not yet passed their last MCAS (8th or 10th) and have failed an English 9-12 course, Algebra 1, Geometry, Math Applications, or Biology. These students would otherwise be charged $125 to attend regular summer school.
Dates: July 1st through August 5th, held Monday-Friday, 8 am-10 am and 10 am-12 pm
Location: The High School of Commerce
Registration Period: April 26th – May 7th
Schools return all applications to Mary Ellen Baron at Central Office by May 14th

Regular Summer School - Grades 6-12, students who have failed one of the offered courses (see application). $125 fee per course to attend. $130 fee for Out of District students.
Dates: July 1st through August 5th, held Monday-Friday, 8 am-10 am and 10 am-12 pm
Locations: Central, Commerce, Putnam, Sci-Tech, and Van Sickle Middle School (for grades 6-8)
Registration Period: April 26th – May 7th
($20 deposit-will be refunded if the student attains 95% attendance for the 2009-2010 academic year or passes the course).
Parents/Guardians must file a refund form in order to receive a refund for any reason.
Return hard copy list of all registered students to Mary Ellen Baron at Central Office by the end of the school day on May 14th

*Mandatory Transition Program for Incoming 6th Graders - Grade 5 students who failed their 4th grade MCAS and are struggling with ELA and/or math
Dates: July 1st through August 5th, held Monday-Friday, 8 am-12pm
Locations: Boland, Gerena, Harris, Indian Orchard, Milton Bradley, Rebecca Johnson, Sumner Avenue
Registration: ended in March, but we are still accepting applications

*Mandatory Transition Program for Incoming 9th Graders - Grade 8 students who failed their 7th grade MCAS and are struggling with ELA and/or math, BELL Program
Dates: June 28th-August 6th, held Monday-Friday, 8 am-2:30PM
Locations: Central, Commerce, Putnam, and Sci-Tech
Registration: ended in March, but we are still accepting applications

*Eligible students who do not attend will be retained
